Emergency and Standard First Aid

Emergency First Aid

This course is for those who are interested in general first aid. It is focused on basic injuries and emergencies that can occur at home, the workplace or on the road.

Emergency First Aid with CPR A – Adults | CPR C – all age groups

Emergency First Aid with CPR Health Care Provider – (HCP)

Standard First Aid

This 16 hour course is spread out over two consecutive days and includes CPR  skills and certification.

The course provides comprehensive first aid & CPR techniques for those who need training for work requirements, or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the workplace or at home. This course covers a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR, AED, prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth topics such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine.

CPR A & AED

This course is for those in the workplace or general public working with emergencies relating to adults.
4 Hours – $50.00

CPR B & AED*

This course is for those who are working with Children as a Child Care worker, Early Childhood Educator or nanny.
* This course is not offered as a stand-alone and is included in the Emergency and Standard Child Care first aid.

CPR C & AED

This course is for those working in the rescue services and first responding teams. It will cover all the basic components of CPR skills for all age groups (adult, child and infant).
6 Hours – $65.00

Health Care Provider (HCP) & AED

This course will cover all the components of CPR skills, including bag-valve-mask and pulse checks. This course are recommended for health care professionals, and those who need the highest level of CPR training (Paramedic, Fire, RN, LPN, and Physicians).

Emergency Child Care with CPR B & AED

This course is for child care workers and those who live with children. It is focused on basic child related injuries and emergencies that can occur at home, the workplace or on the road. This course is recognized by Community Care Facilities Licensing Board (CCFLB) for child care workers in BC.

9 Hours – $85.00


Standard Child Care with CPR B & AED

This course is for child care workers and those who live with children. It is focused on child injuries and emergencies with additional materials leading to a more in-depth understanding.This course is recognized by Community Care Facilities Licensing Board (CCFLB) for child care workers in BC.

Youth Programs

Babysitting Course

The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course is updated for today’s youth with the precaution that emergencies sometimes do happen, even to the best babysitters. This course teaches youth how to handle emergencies with confidence by providing the basic first aid skills for such common problems as:

  • Choking
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Burns
  • Fire emergency

For many young adolescents, babysitting is their first job. Canadian Red Cross can help them become real “pros”! They learn valuable tips for managing their business as well as:

  • Important child care skills
  • Safety tips for children of all ages
  • How to cope with common problems, like tantrums and crying
  • What to do if anything makes the babysitter uncomfortable
  • Some great games and other ideas for having fun with the kids while babysitting
  • How to make the children’s environment safe and enjoyable
  • What the respective rights and responsibilities of the babysitter and the family hiring one

Workplace Emergency First Aid (WEFA)

This is the Red Cross Workplace Emergency First-Aid with CPR A (WEFA) course and is approved by WorkSafe BC as an OFA Level 1 equivalent. It is suitable for people who are designated as first-aid attendants at their workplace, or applying for employment to work places that require Level 1 first-aid attendants.
The Level 1 course is 8 hours and all successful students receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years.Note: You must be at least 16 years of age to take this course.

Recertification

As a part of the Canadian Red Cross program standards, to qualify for any recertification program, you are required to hold a valid current certification of the same recertification course or higher. It must be issued by the Canadian Red Cross.We offer recertification for the following programs:

This course is designed to refresh your CPR skills and provide you with all the updated training.

Course duration: 4 Hours
Pre-Requisite: Valid Canadian Red Cross Certification

CPR C & AED Recertification – $40.00

Emergency First Aid

This course is designed to refresh your Emergency and CPR skills and provide you with all the updated training.

Course Duration: 6 Hours
Pre-Requisite: Valid Canadian Red Cross Certification and must have a Canadian Red Cross First Aid Manual.

Standard First Aid

This course is designed to refresh your Standard First Aid and CPR  skills and provide you with all the updated training. This course is very compact because we will be reviewing 2 days worth of material in 1 day.

Oxygen Administration

Oxygen Adminstration

Course Duration: 4 Hours
Pre-Requisite: CPR Level HCP
Oxygen Adminstration – $75.00

This course teaches how to operate various oxygen devices as well as how to respond and treat respiratory emergencies. The course is for those who are required to use oxygen in the workplace including lifeguards, emergency medical services (EMS) professionals, etc.

Completion Requirements

100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 75% min. passing grade on written exam
